In April 2018, GAC New Energy Company participated in beijing international automotive exhibition, and launched the pure electric SUV GE3 and other models, but it was a pity that it failed. At the end of the year, the indomitable GAC New Energy Company released the first compact SUV—— with the brand name of "Ai ‘an"-Ai ‘an S, which went offline in the factory in April 2019 and officially went on sale in May.

At the beginning of the transformation of the new energy track, GAC had a failed experience. In order to seize the market share, Aeon S must find a breakthrough.

At that time, the rental category of new energy passenger cars reached its peak, accounting for 27%. As a result, Ai ‘an S aimed at the B-end market and provided customized models at a price of 139,800 ~ 192,800 yuan. In 2019, the sales volume of GAC New Energy Company exceeded 40,000 vehicles, which doubled year-on-year. Ian s won the first prize and contributed 32,000 vehicles.

In November 2020, Guangzhou Automobile Group simply renamed "Guangzhou Automobile New Energy Company" as "Guangzhou Automobile Ai ‘an" and announced its independent operation. Later, after the launch of Ai ‘an Y, together with Ai ‘an S, it became the favorite of network car owners. Guangzhou Automobile Ai ‘an is also dubbed by netizens as a new energy automobile brand that "knows the middle-aged unemployed best".

Before Ai ‘an was born, BYD had been promoting the taxi market for nearly ten years, and its Dynasty series models also enjoyed sufficient voice in the new energy network car market.

Therefore, on the day when Ai ‘an won the first stage, the outside world put it on both ends of the scale with BYD.

Zhang Yi, CEO of Ai Media Consulting, told the "City Circle" that BYD’s success lies in mastering the competitiveness of core technologies such as batteries, and grasping a very good new energy development trend, controlling the cost and taking the lead, and improving the overall profit margin of automobile manufacturing.

The three electric (motor, battery, electronic control) systems of Ai ‘an were originally adopted by other companies. Its motor and electronic control system are made of parts from Nippon Denko and GAC Nideco, and GAC Nideco is a joint venture between Nippon Denko and GAC Holding Company. On the power battery, Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Limited and Zhongchuang Singapore Airlines are all suppliers of Aeon.

In October 2021, Ai ‘an embarked on the road of BYD’s self-production and self-research, and planned to invest in the trial production line of self-developed batteries. In the second half of 2022, with the support of Guangzhou Automobile Group, Ai ‘an successively established Yinpai Battery Technology and Ruipai Power Technology to accelerate the layout of the electrified industrial chain.

In addition, on the product side, in January, 2023, BYD launched its high-end car brand-Looking Up, a pure electric supercar looking up at U8, with a price of millions. In October of the same year, Haobo Hyper SSR was officially listed, which is also a pure electric sports car. The manufacturer’s guide price is 1.286 million to 1.686 million yuan.

What makes Ian uncomfortable is that the million-class sports car has been on the market for several months at night, and it was almost misunderstood by the outside world as running after BYD.

You know, in September 2022, it was ——Hyper Haobo, a high-end automobile brand released by Ai ‘an, and the first new car super-running Hyper SSR also appeared simultaneously. Byd officially named its high-end car brand in November 2022-looking up.

Whether it is Ai ‘an or BYD, at this stage, millions of sports cars may be more famous than profitable. For Ai ‘an, the main battlefield with BYD is still in a cheap car of 100,000 ~ 200,000 yuan.

Therefore, in 2023, Ai ‘an sold cars crazily. It has been reported by the media before that the rebate of a car from Ai ‘an to the dealer can make the other party earn more than 20,000 yuan. However, new energy car companies are too big. At the end of 2023, BYD took the lead in price reduction promotion, and Ai ‘an also worked hard. Unfortunately, it failed to achieve the goal of selling 500,000 vehicles annually.

In recent years, GAC Ai ‘an has been unable to escape the shadow of BYD, and every move is considered to be crossing the river by touching BYD.

Recently, a secondary dealer of Ai ‘an in Chongqing told the "City Boundary" that there were only a few 4S stores in Ai ‘an before, and in order to expand the distribution channels, it suddenly increased to more than ten in 2023.

In order to encourage dealers to actively sell cars, manufacturers promise that as long as they complete the sales of more than a dozen cars every month, they can get the decoration subsidy for the previous shop, which will be replenished in two years. At the same time, according to the above dealers, Ai ‘an asked for the location of the exhibition hall: there must be a BYD store next to it.

According to the dealer, the original exhibition hall was not approved because there was no BYD store next to it.

Ian, is this going after BYD? "City Boundary" also consulted the staff of another Chongqing Ai ‘an Experience Center. "It doesn’t have to be BYD next to it. It can only be said that BYD is a direct competitor of Ai ‘an, and of course it is the best." At present, next to the Ai ‘anmen store where he is located, there is BYD.

However, dealers in Shijiazhuang, Guangxi, Shandong and other places said that to join Ai ‘an, manufacturers did not ask to be next to BYD.

IPO is more urgent.

Perhaps the feedback from Chongqing dealers is just an example, but they are right in one sentence. BYD is a direct competitor of Ai ‘an.

But after all, BYD has worked in the field of new energy vehicles for many years, and its family has a big business. In front of Ai ‘an, there are only two brands: "AION Ai ‘an+Hyper Haobo". If it wants to master more discourse power, it must let itself stay at the new energy table for a little longer.

Even with his back to Guangzhou Automobile Group, Ai ‘an is far from being able to sit back and relax. Compared with BYD, "Wei Xiaoli" and Zero Run, Ai ‘an lacks a capital market pass. And this is too important for the car-making business that burns money crazily.

During the 2023 Shanghai Auto Show, Feng Xingya, general manager of Guangzhou Automobile Group, said that he would strive to complete the IPO in 2023. At that time, it was reported in the market that GAC Aian might submit the application materials for listing to the relevant departments at the end of June, and according to the plan, it would seek listing in science and technology innovation board. But soon, Guangzhou Automobile Group said that the listed sector had not been confirmed.

It seems that the time has not yet come to this young master who was born with a golden spoon. After a lapse of nine months, at the beginning of 2024, many media reported that Guangzhou Automobile Group planned to spin off the Ai ‘an brand and arrange its listing in Hong Kong, raising $1 billion.

Up to now, regarding the rumors of IPO in Hong Kong, Ai ‘an has not expressed his position.

As early as August 2021, under the arrangement of Guangzhou Automobile Group, Ai ‘an started the mixed reform and war-leading work. The group generously took out 7.404 billion yuan in cash, and also let Guangzhou Automobile Passenger Car give Ai ‘an 3.557 billion yuan in physical assets, and distributed more than 600 people from Guangzhou Automobile Research Institute and some patents to Ai ‘an. In November of the same year, GAC Aian completed the reorganization and integration of relevant R&D personnel, intangible assets and fixed assets in the field of pure electric new energy vehicles.

In March, 2022, GAC Ai ‘an implemented equity incentives for 794 key employees by means of non-public agreement to increase capital. The capital increase totaled 2.566 billion yuan. According to media reports, the enthusiasm of internal employees to subscribe is very high, and even some employees borrow money from banks to subscribe. Gu Huinan, the general manager of Ai ‘an, even mortgaged the house and invested 20 million yuan.

In September of the same year, Ai ‘an completed the shareholding system reform; In October, Ai ‘an completed the A round of financing, and the total financing of 53 strategic investors was 18.294 billion yuan, releasing 17.72% of the shares. Guangzhou Automobile Group’s direct and indirect total shareholding in Guangzhou Automobile Ai ‘an changed from 93.45% to 76.89%, and it is still the controlling party.

The valuation of Ai ‘an soared to 100 billion yuan in an instant, which was about equal to the market value of two Xpeng Motors at that time, making it the largest unicorn enterprise among unlisted new energy vehicle companies.

Guangzhou Automobile Group is very much looking forward to the listing of Ai ‘an.

Within Guangzhou Automobile Group, Aeon is a heavyweight, and more than 90% of the group’s overall new energy sales are supported by Aeon. Although joint ventures GAC Toyota and Guangqi Honda also have new energy vehicles, they can’t count on hard sales.

In October, 2022, Guangzhou Automobile Group revealed in the progress announcement of capital increase and share expansion in Ai ‘an: Guangzhou Automobile Ai ‘an is the development carrier of Guangzhou Automobile Group’s intelligent pure electric new energy automobile industry, and has successively launched a number of intelligent pure electric new energy automobile products such as AION S, AION LX, AION V, AION Y and Hyper SSR.

On January 8, 2024, in the e-interaction of SSE, some investors asked about the listing progress of Ai ‘an. Guangzhou Automobile Group said that related projects are progressing as planned. "Even if the subsequent listing of Guangzhou Automobile Ai ‘an is successful, Guangzhou Automobile Group (including the shares held by its subsidiaries) will still be the controlling shareholder of Guangzhou Automobile Ai ‘an, and the income of Guangzhou Automobile Ai ‘an will also be incorporated into the statements of the listed company Guangzhou Automobile Group. In the future, with the growth of Guangzhou Automobile Ai ‘an, Guangzhou Automobile Group will also benefit. "

In the eyes of the industry, A-shares have higher requirements for corporate profitability and innovation attributes when the capital market is experiencing a cold winter and the IPO is tightening. And listing in Hong Kong stocks is easier than listing in A-share science and technology innovation board. However, Dennis Huang, president of Huisheng International Capital, told the "Market Boundary" that there are differences in investor composition, valuation system and market expectation between the A-share market and the Hong Kong stock market, and the valuation of enterprises may be affected if they switch from A-share science and technology innovation board to Hong Kong stock market.

Ai ‘an’s IPO trip to Hong Kong has not yet landed, but the products have been laid out in Hong Kong first.

On January 28th, GAC Aeon announced its official entry into the Hong Kong market, and the first store in Kowloon Bay in Hong Kong officially opened. At the product launch conference, Ai ‘an brought the first model AION Y Plus, and also appeared in models such as Haoplatinum HT and Haoplatinum SSR.

According to Guangzhou Automobile Ai ‘an, it is the first automobile enterprise to lay out more than 300 1000V super-filled piles in Hong Kong. In 2024, it will build six sales service centers and brand direct stores in Hong Kong.

Before it, new energy brands such as BYD, Tesla, SAIC Chase, SAIC MG and Great Wall Euler all entered the Hong Kong market. However, except for Tesla’s direct marketing system, most of them are sold by local agents.

Self-explanation

Will Ian choose to list in Hong Kong? How many problems can listing help it solve? It is not known yet. But at the moment, there are some problems that need to be proved.

A few years before and after the launch of Ai ‘an S, BYD’s Dynasty Series, BAIC New Energy, Geely Geometry, etc. all launched products that were very close to their prices and product positioning, but they failed to shake Ai ‘an’s position as the "king of network car".

And this has also brought hidden concerns to Ai ‘an.

From 2020 to 2022, the proportion of pure electric rental decreased from 15% to 11%. Since then, the market demand has gradually strengthened to private consumption. In November 2023, the proportion of rental was only 7.3%, reaching the lowest point of the year.

It is widely believed that Ai ‘an, which relies on the network car market, will decline with the market saturation. Moreover, the label of "the king of the network car" in the past will also hinder it from launching the C-end market through high-end models.

It is estimated that Ai ‘an also heard the comments from the outside world. Before the launch of the high-end brand Hyper Haobo in September 2022, he began to adjust the sales structure and tried to find a balance point.

According to the data of CITIC Securities, from 2020 to the first half of 2021, Ai ‘an has a high proportion of leasing in the B-end market, which is about 60%~70%. However, at the 2022 performance meeting, Guangzhou Automobile Group publicly stated that in the sales system, the overall sales volume of its C-end has increased to 70%~80%.

However, don’t look at the gradual saturation of the online car market. In the past year, the competition of 100,000 and 150,000 "online car models" has become more intense.

On December 12th, 2023, Q05, the third new car of Changan Qiyuan, went on the market, with a starting price of 119,900 yuan. Subsequently, some dealers played the slogan of Changan Qiyuan A05 "100,000-class network car first choice". Earlier, Xpeng Motors announced that the new brand of pure electric car "MONA", which is strategically cooperated with Didi, will start mass production in 2024, and the first product will be priced at about 150,000 yuan, which refers to the online car market.

Ian is under pressure. Before, they sold it to corporate customers who were engaged in online car rental at B-end, and now they are trying to attract C-end users. Ian said that if users buy a car and intend to engage in online car business or home use, the insurance and maintenance measures given by manufacturers are also different.

The process of human modernization is always reflected in the historical practice of different countries and nationalities, and modernization is the unity of universality and particularity.

  In the unification of universality and particularity, Chinese modernization has distinct China characteristics. The first is the modernization with a huge population. China’s population of more than 1.4 billion has stepped into modernization as a whole, exceeding the total population of developed countries, which will greatly change the world map of modernization. This is the largest modernization in human history, and it is also the most difficult modernization. The second is the modernization of common prosperity for all people. Chinese-style modernization insists on development for the people, development depends on the people, and the fruits of development are shared by the people. This profoundly reflects that Chinese-style modernization is a brand-new form of human civilization, which contains unique world outlook, values, historical outlook, civilization outlook, democratic outlook, ecological outlook, etc., which expands the path choice of developing countries towards modernization and is a major innovation in the theory and practice of world modernization.

  As far as the major principles that must be firmly grasped in building a socialist modern country in an all-round way are concerned, Report to the 20th CPC National Congress of the Party put forward five major principles, which defined the leadership core, line system, fundamental purpose, development motive force and mental state of building a socialist modern country. We must uphold and strengthen the Party’s overall leadership, ensure the correct direction of China’s socialist modernization, adhere to the Socialism with Chinese characteristics Road, always put the development of the country and the nation on the basis of our own strength, adhere to the people-centered development ideology, make the achievements of modernization more fair to all people, persist in deepening reform and opening up, constantly enhance the motivation and vitality of socialist modernization, persist in carrying forward the spirit of struggle, and open up a new world for career development by relying on tenacious struggle.

  Deeply analyze the challenges faced by promoting Chinese modernization

  General Secretary of the Supreme Leader pointed out that "promoting Chinese modernization is an unprecedented pioneering undertaking, and it is bound to encounter all kinds of predictable and unpredictable risk challenges, difficulties and even stormy waves". As far as the challenges faced by economic and social development in the new development stage are concerned, they are highlighted in the following aspects.

  First, the phased objectives, requirements and constraints of economic and social development have undergone profound changes, and it is urgent to change the mode of economic development. The new development stage is the stage of building a socialist modern country in an all-round way and marching towards the goal of the second century. Entering a new stage of development, China has built a well-off society in an all-round way, and its economic and social development has reached a new level, and it is also facing new development goals. At the same time as the historical changes in the target requirements, the constraint function has also undergone systematic changes, including changes in the domestic and international economic situation, changes in the characteristics of demand and supply, and so on, which have put forward urgent requirements for transforming the mode of economic development. Taking the goal of "double carbon" as an example, China has made a solemn commitment to the world, striving to achieve peak carbon dioxide emissions by 2030 and carbon neutrality by 2060. Realizing carbon neutrality in peak carbon dioxide emissions is an inevitable choice to solve the outstanding problems of resource and environment constraints, and the task is very arduous, which can never be easily achieved. Emission reduction is highly related to GDP growth, industrialization progress, urbanization, energy structure and macroeconomic cost. If we do not change the mode of economic development, it will be difficult to alleviate the contradictions. We must unswervingly follow the development path of ecological priority, green and low carbon, promote quality change, efficiency change and power change, and realize green and low carbon transformation and development as soon as possible.

  Second, from the experience and lessons of international economic development, we must accelerate the high-quality economic development. International experience shows that the key for a country to enter the high-income stage from the middle-income stage lies in the fundamental transformation of economic development from quantitative expansion to qualitative improvement. According to the World Bank study, of the 101 middle-income economies in the world in 1960, only 13 had entered the ranks of high-income countries by 2008, and the rest had been hovering in the middle-income stage for a long time. The basic reason is that the above fundamental changes have not been realized. Report to the 20th CPC National Congress of the Communist Party of China put forward the overall goal of basically realizing socialist modernization by 2035, including the per capita GDP reaching a new level and reaching the level of moderately developed countries. At present, the position of China’s industry in the global industrial chain and value chain is generally at the low end, and the contribution rate of science and technology to economic growth is not high. At the same time, there is still a big gap between China’s total factor productivity and developed countries. To gradually catch up with the level of developed countries, the total factor productivity will be improved at a faster speed. From the reality at this stage, it is difficult to achieve this goal if we follow the traditional mode of production and do not accelerate the development of high quality.

  Thirdly, the international economic structure and the process of economic globalization are complicated and changeable, which brings a series of challenges to China’s economic development. In recent years, economic globalization has met with counter-current, unilateralism and protectionism have obviously increased, the recovery of the world economy is weak, local conflicts and turmoil are frequent, the century epidemic has a far-reaching impact, global problems have intensified, and the world has entered a new period of turbulent change. Since China’s reform and opening up, the kinetic energy of the circular model of "two ends are outside, big in and big out" has obviously weakened. At the same time, the position of China’s economy in the world economy has changed significantly, and the proportion of GDP in the world GDP has increased from about 1.8% at the beginning of reform and opening up to about 18% in 2022. On the one hand, China’s economy is more competitive, but on the other hand, the complementarity between China and the developed economies such as the United States, the European Union and Japan is weakened and the competition is intensified; On the one hand, China’s influence on the world economy is expanding, but on the other hand, it is affected by the instability of the world economy, especially the impact of systemic risks in developed economies such as the United States.

  On the whole, we must scientifically analyze the opportunities and challenges facing the new development stage. First of all, the connotations of opportunities and challenges have changed. Opportunities are more strategic and plastic, while challenges are more complex and overall. Secondly, the relationship between opportunities and challenges has changed. Our judgment is that crises and opportunities coexist, crises are organic, and crises can turn around. Challenges are unprecedented, and opportunities are unprecedented if we deal with them well. Thirdly, China’s development has entered a period in which strategic opportunities and risk challenges coexist and uncertain and unpredictable factors increase, and various "black swan" and "grey rhinoceros" incidents may occur at any time. We must enhance our sense of hardship, adhere to the bottom line thinking, be prepared for danger in times of peace and prepare for a rainy day, and prepare for a major test of high winds, high waves and even stormy waves. This is a problem that we must attach great importance to in promoting and expanding Chinese modernization.

  Promoting Chinese modernization with high-quality development

  Promoting Chinese modernization is a systematic project, which requires overall consideration, systematic planning and overall promotion, and correctly handles a series of major relationships such as top-level design and practical exploration, strategy and tactics, integrity and innovation, efficiency and fairness, vitality and order, self-reliance and self-improvement and opening up.   What is high-quality development? High-quality development is a development that can well meet the people’s growing needs for a better life. Macroscopically, high-quality development is to promote the development of benign interaction between supply and demand and tend to be balanced; On the micro level, high-quality development is the development supported by new kinetic energy with the continuous improvement of total factor productivity; Structurally, high-quality development is the coordinated development between urban and rural areas, regions and industries; In terms of risk prevention, high-quality development is a steady, safe and resilient development; In terms of opening to the outside world, high-quality development is the internal and external linkage development that leads high-level opening to the outside world with institutional opening. High-quality development is not only the essential requirement of Chinese modernization, but also the path choice to promote Chinese modernization.

  To promote Chinese modernization with high-quality development, we must adhere to the new development concept. The new development concept clarifies the guiding principles of China’s modernization. The new development concept has answered the important theoretical and practical questions of "what kind of development and how to achieve it" in China in a new historical position, and provided scientific guidance for promoting Chinese modernization with high-quality development. Among them, innovative development focuses on solving the problem of development motivation, coordinated development focuses on solving the problem of unbalanced development, green development focuses on solving the problem of harmony between man and nature, open development focuses on solving the problem of internal and external linkage of development, and shared development focuses on solving social fairness and justice. The development concept is strategic, programmatic and leading, and it is the forerunner of development practice. Without changing the concept, the development mode cannot be changed. But the idea can’t stay in the idea, but must be implemented in practice. We should implement the new development concept completely, accurately and comprehensively, pay attention to grasping the new development concept from the fundamental purpose, problem orientation and sense of urgency, speed up the construction of a modern economic system, accelerate the construction of a new development pattern, comprehensively deepen reform, plant new advantages in development, run the new development concept through the whole development process and all fields, and constantly promote the development of Chinese modernization.

  To promote Chinese modernization with high-quality development, we must build a modern economic system. A strong country must have a strong economic system. The modern economic system is an organic whole composed of the interrelations and internal relations of all links, levels and fields of social and economic activities. Building a modern economic system is an inevitable requirement to promote high-quality development and comprehensively improve the overall competitiveness of the economy. Only by forming a modern economic system can we better conform to the trend of modernization and win the initiative of international competition, and also provide strong support for modernization in other fields. We should handle the relationship between reality and reality in industrial development, the balance between urban and rural development and regional development, the relationship between all-round opening-up and independent development, adhere to integrated construction and promotion, build an industrial system led by innovation and coordinated development, build a unified, open, competitive and orderly market system, build an income distribution system that reflects efficiency and promotes fairness, and build an urban and rural regional development system that demonstrates advantages and coordination.   To promote Chinese modernization with high-quality development, we must speed up the construction of a new development pattern. " To build a new development pattern, we should take expanding domestic demand as the strategic basis, deepening supply-side structural reform as the strategic main line, innovation-driven as the strategic support, high-level opening as the strategic premise, and striving for progress while maintaining stability as the strategic policy to better promote modernization. Specifically, first, it is necessary to better coordinate the expansion of domestic demand and deepen the structural reform of the supply side, and enhance the motivation and reliability of the domestic macro-cycle. The key to building a new development pattern is to realize the unimpeded economic cycle. China and overseas: helping Nigeria’s agricultural modernization

  Rice is the main food crop in many African countries. Although Africa has a large area of land suitable for rice growth, countries still suffer from insufficient production and consumption gap. China’s rice industry has rich experience in variety cultivation, production and processing, equipment technology, demonstration and promotion, and industrial investment. The cooperation between China and Africa in the field of rice has obvious complementarity and great development potential.

  Develop operation mode according to local conditions

  With a population of nearly 200 million, Nigeria has abundant arable land, sufficient labor force, abundant water resources and forest resources, and the conditions for developing agriculture are unique. However, the present situation of agricultural development in Nigeria is very backward, food is not self-sufficient, and it relies heavily on imports.

  There is a demonstration farm covering an area of 2,025 hectares in Kebi State, northwest Nigeria. WARA, an agricultural mechanization farm, was invested and built by China Zhongdi Overseas Group in 2006. "After the establishment of the farm, then Nigerian President Obasanjo led relevant cabinet ministers to visit the farm and placed high hopes on promoting the process of agricultural modernization in Nigeria as a starting point." Wang Jun, deputy general manager of China Overseas Agricultural Development Co., Ltd., said in an interview with the Economic Daily reporter.

  Less than half a year after the establishment of the farm, China Overseas Group completed the infrastructure planning and investment construction of the farm with the help of South-South cooperation agricultural experts from China at that time.

  However, the road to development is full of thorns. The wrong rainy season in 2006 gave the farm a "scare". After the sowing was completed, various problems followed. The original technical scheme and equipment of field management can’t adapt to the working environment. Almost all 600 hectares of rice were swallowed up by weeds, and the few tens of hectares of rice with harvest value that were barely preserved were also low in harvest rate due to the low purity of seeds purchased from local companies and inconsistent maturity.

  "The company recognizes that agricultural development in Africa needs a systematic solution, and seeds are one of the urgent problems to be solved. It is not possible to directly copy China’s model experience, but to innovate on the basis of China’s technological experience model and the actual situation in Africa." Wang Wei said.

  In 2008, China Overseas Group and Yuan Longping Agricultural Hi-tech Co., Ltd. jointly established Green Agriculture West Africa Co., Ltd. in Nepal. With the joint efforts of farm technical experts, a comprehensive exploration has been started from breeding to production and cultivation techniques.

  After five years of exploration and innovation, in 2010, the company finally explored the mechanized rice direct seeding cultivation mode and paddy field transplanting cultivation operation mode, established the seed production management system, and obtained the Nigerian seed production and operation license.

  Wang Yun said with joy: "The company has realized the localized development of hybrid rice, and also carried out multi-party cooperation to implement diversified seed development around the local planting structure."

  Cultivate rice varieties with independent property rights

  China’s overseas agriculture has taken root in Nigeria and developed steadily step by step. In 2012, it became a supplier of conventional seeds of rice and corn and original seeds of rice for the "Grain Growth Plan" project of the Nigerian Ministry of Agriculture. The company also carried out training for local farmers and disseminated rice seed production and planting technology, which was welcomed by local farmers.

  China Overseas has established a "company+farmer" production base in Nepal, which has driven more than 5,000 farmers to find jobs and increased production and income, helped Nepal build a production capacity of 10,000 tons of excellent rice seeds, and made great contributions to increasing rice production in Nepal. According to preliminary statistics, as of 2018, China and overseas contributed more than 1 million tons to increase rice production in Nigeria.

  After more than 10 years of continuous investment and efforts, the company registered GAWAL R1, a conventional rice variety with independent intellectual property rights, in Nepal in 2017. Wang Jun proudly said: "GAWAL is the abbreviation of the English name of Green Agriculture West Africa Co., Ltd., R stands for rice, and 1 is the number. This is the first rice variety cultivated by a China enterprise named in Nepal, the first crop variety named by a Nigerian government agency according to the company name, and the first rice variety recommended by the Nigerian government to other 14 countries of the West African Community."

  In order to develop sustainable agriculture in Nigeria, China Overseas has made a long-term plan to invest in the construction of an agricultural high-tech industrial park in Abuja, the capital of Nigeria, from 2013.

  Wang Jun said that the industrial park aims to build a platform for agricultural cooperation between China and Africa, with Nigeria as the center, facing Central and Western Africa and the whole African region, shifting from technology demonstration to industrial demonstration, taking seed and seedling, agricultural machinery exhibition and agricultural products processing as the driving objectives, devoting itself to the demonstration training and promotion center of agricultural technology and equipment in China, Yu Jiancheng, the industrial incubation park radiating Africa with Nigeria as the center, and the cooperation platform for academic exchange of knowledge and information and exhibition and trading of essential product resources to promote agricultural development in Africa.

  Promote experience suitable for Africa’s development

  How can China’s agricultural development experience be combined with African practice to achieve complementarity? Wang Yun put forward some suggestions based on the experience of China and overseas countries in Nigeria for more than 10 years.

  First, win-win cooperation. In agricultural cooperation with foreign countries, in addition to Chinese units going out to sea in groups, sincere cooperation and benefit sharing, it is also necessary to pay attention to foreign demands and interests, bring benefits to local people through cooperation, and achieve win-win cooperation.

  The second is to be realistic and innovative. Compared with Africa, China’s agricultural development model, experience, technology and equipment have certain advantages, but when it is introduced to Africa, it must be innovated according to its own characteristics.

  The third is to identify the key links in the industrial chain. Agriculture has a long industrial chain from seed and planting to storage and processing. It is suggested to "grasp both ends and put them in the middle", make efforts in seed and processing, and fully cooperate with local farmers and industry organizations in planting.

  The fourth is to pay attention to fulfilling social responsibilities. The characteristics of agriculture itself determine that agriculture-related enterprises must have long-term strategy and long-term vision in their operations. In addition to their business operations, enterprises should also have the courage to assume social responsibilities and participate in local public welfare activities.

  Wang Jun believes that China-Africa agricultural cooperation has broad prospects and great room for cooperation. On the one hand, China’s various agricultural development models, agricultural technology and industrialization development experience are suitable for Africa, and the two sides have huge space for cooperation in agricultural industrialization capacity, and can carry out industrial and technological cooperation to enhance African agricultural production capacity. On the other hand, China-Africa agriculture is highly complementary, and Africa has obvious advantages in agricultural resources. China is the largest market and importer of agricultural products, and has a huge demand for tropical cash crops in Africa, which provides Africa with a broad market space.
